03. Effort Values & Pokémon
Each Pokémon has its own Effort Values. To an extent, that shows what kind of Pokémon you are training. As in, a Pokémon that usually has a high Attack might have/give 1 Attack EV.
These Effort Values are the base of EV training (EV being Effort Value, that’s kind of obvious). EV’s that are given by facing wild Pokémon can only be 1, 2 or 3. Example: Shinx give 1 Attack EV when beaten, Luxio give 2 Attack EV’s when beaten, Luxray give 3 Attack EV’s when beaten.
So, for examples sake, lets say you are training a Weavile for Attack and speed. A Pokémon can only obtain a max of 510 EV’s, and each stat reaches its max at 255 EV’s. If you wanted to train this Weavile in Attack and Speed, you would train it to have 255 in speed & 255 in attack (255+255=510). Meaning, you will(can) face Shinx, or Luxio until you have counted 255. When you have finished that, move on to speed. *When EV training, you can only face Pokémon that give you the EV’s you want, or your Pokémon will not get max in that stat!* In other words, don’t face a wild Pokémon that wont give you the right EV’s, and don’t get caught up into unwanted battles.
04. Other Info
These are just some things you might want to know:
- Pokémon do not gain EV’s when in the Day Care
- Pokémon do gain EV’s when equipped with Exp share, even if they do not fight. Pokémon @Exp share & Pokémon fighting both gain FULL EV’S FROM THE BATTLE
- Pokémon do not gain anymore EV’s once reached 510. So if you have fully EV’d your Pokémon by a low level, it is safe to battle ANY Pokémon you want from then on, without worry of messing up the training.
- Pokerus (PKRS) contributes to EV training by allowing the Pokémon to gain extra EV's (x2)
