Illegal Music Downloads

Since there isn't a lot of talk here on Shaychu, I figured we could just start threads on some controversial topics to get the activity up.

So, illegal music downloads. The act of downloading songs online without paying. What are you opinions.

Even though I have Limewire, I don't use it, and I buy the songs from iTunes. HOWEVER, my laptop busted a few months ago, and I got a new one.

If I update my iPod, i'll lose all my songs, so I'm Limewiring all the stuff, because I'm not paying again.

So theres always multiple ways to look at it. What's your opinion?

music store? what's that?

music should be free for all yet the people who make it get paid ^_^ win win.

Can't you sign in on the computer without the songs to regain them, or am I thinking of another program, most likely.

youtube for instince,
take away the songs
lose the site and the users.
thats how buisness goes.

there is a difference between illegal downloads and free downloads, though.

lots of music is free on the internet because the artist sets it up to be that way. some do this to drum up interest in their band (usually new bands) so they can have a fan base to make money off of later.

I always pay for songs from bands that I really favor, and only download them illegally when my iPod becomes idiotic and deletes all my songs, then iTunes mysteriously dies. Like Soccer said, I'm not shelling out another $20 for songs that I already paid for. The Internet has slammed basically everything in existence media-wise, and it's IMPOSSIBLE to stop illegal music downloads without removing music from the Internet altogether (when worst comes to worst, people can always use programs to record audio straight from their sound card, effectively giving them the desired song in a file).

Lol K Espeon, I usually illegally download all of my music. But if I really like the band, or musical artist, then I will go out and buy their CD's, their merch, and go to their concerts.

Nah, I just rip them direct from YouTube.

Wouldn't they have bad quality though?

Quality isn't an issue when I download. If it does become an issue, I find a game it's part of, rent it from Blockbuster, and rip it from the game.

Nah, pretty much any YT to MP3 downloader gives it really decent quality. Even if you bump the file volume of it, it sounds pretty good. Don't ask me how I know that.

Wasn't my fault, I accidentally hit the 'Download' button on my browser when the YT vid was on, and a MP3 file appeared out of nowhere. I still buy albums at times to support the artists. The sad truth is if too many people go the illegal way, it's possible that music artists will cease to make music. Which would not be cool.
