Revamp!

Hi! I'm your "new" admin, 7, and I probably should've posted this yesterday...

Anyway, because I'm so awesome, expect a lot of changes around the site! Nothing extremely drastic okay that was a lie I'll be changing pretty much everything.

Espeon and seaa-swix have purged most of the forum of old topics, so be sure to thank them when you have the chance! They've worked hard to ensure that Shaychu is a comfortable and fun place to be.

The admins are also working on bringing back the shop to help users with their games, as well as making the forum significantly more fun! We also have other plans... :twisted:

You may be asking, "well, what can I do to help improve the site?"

The biggest thing you can do is tell your friends! Advertise, spread the word! Shaychu is a great site with a very active RPG section and wonderful staff members that enhance the closeness on this site, and it'd be a shame if we just let it rot for another year or so without improving it...

We'll also be making a Help Wanted section or thread or something that you can check and attempt for a point reward to be used for the shop!

We're bringing back the fun! Shaychu won't be the same.

Complaints? Suggestions? Post in here and we'll evaluate it! (Post only if it relates to the revamp, please.)

i demand more catagories for the jr rangers to moderate, i dunno if thats relevent but its my suggestion and demand...

What do they run...just moderate the forum games? Do the games need that much moderation that it requires a group? I hate to say drop a group...but how much do they help the site?

Jr. Rangers are essentially moderators that moderate specific categories. The forum games used to be pretty unruly, so the other admins assumed it was essential for the Jr. Rangers to watch that section.

We'll add more sections when we decide on what sections to add.

The Jr. Rangers used to be people that we wanted to be moderators at some point in time, as a testing group, to see how well they did. Because I'm awesome, the Jr. Rangers have changed to be simply an extra helping hand around the forum.

j-mods now mod the anime, pokemon, and general discussion boards in addition to the games board.

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda offended. But I can deal with that.

I refused to keep the default color scheme because I honestly felt that black isn't a very good main color to use on a forum, and neither Shaymin nor Pikachu have anything to do with black. So, I tried to cut the amount of black on the forum, and I think I succeeded.
My original color choices were turd brown and just pure blazing red, but they also had nothing to do with the Shaychu concept so I canceled them.

Green and yellow are notoriously difficult to work with (unless you're a Packers fan or something) but I figured that it would be easier to work with had it been darker than the norm, which is what I did.

Eventually I'm going to make the site SUUUUUUUUPER BRIGHT. Probably for my birthday or something.

Wait, you'd be okay with a super-bright forum? I can make it brighter, but I'd have thought that people would be against it because "AAAAAAAAAA IT HURTS MY EYES"
The brown is actually a dark yellow lol but that's how you make brown anyway

personally, i like this color scheme. its very earthy and well coordinated :3

This is reason enough for me to not touch the forum colors now. I'll leave it like this and go with DarkHeart's suggestion for holiday themes, like Easter (which I'll miss) and admin birthdays (which I'll usually miss).

i think we were going to try and replace inactive leaders first, aaaaaaand i think its been a few days to a week since i sent out inactivity notices so...

Let's nuke all the inactive gyms for now and just back up the posts incase they comeback and want there Gym Leadership. That way if we do nuke them/remove it they can still have the original back-ups post from the original


Or throw them in the archives and we will dig them out later.

I do have something else planned but I'm too tired (and busy) to pull it off. This is not exactly the best time for me to be admin, considering I'll be on a trip (to Florida) for a week and a half...

Staff members, please check the Staff forum for more comments on the dead gyms. I posted there, anyway.

Alright, so I'm still revamping the site. That said, if you want to help, go ahead and help.

Things I'm interested in revamping:
- New Topic / Post Reply buttons can be edited
- Nav bar, although it's old and it's worn on me, needs to change
- That mini-Shaychu thing on the Who's Online list looks old now, it needs to be updated (some artist that can draw, preferably DarkHeart or dragonartist723 but anyone works)
- The background again (Done, I rocked the heist and it became brighter!)
- The site colors again (Done, brighter~!)
- The banner, only if you think you can do a better job (I like to think I can)
- Changing group colors mostly for lulz Done (and I do have a pretty good reason for each of the group colors, PM me if you want to know)
- Mod buttons
- The edit, quote, etc. buttons (and the profile, send PM, e-mail buttons if you want, I happen to like those, though)

I'll post more while the revamp continues. Dark themes are so 2009.

The ranks are all off colored now...ie: your Admin Rank color matches your older Admin Color.

This is me screwing around with the theme.

I actually like it like this. It might be bright but I'm trying to make it a balanced bright.

If you're complaining and not an admin, I'll change it back before October. If you're complaining and an admin, help make the theme better but still bright. If you're not complaining, good.

I'll try to balance out all the old stuff like groups so they're more visible now.

i honestly thought i was somewhere else. ..... um... i kinda like it but i have just like some problems.... i find that it's a little bit too difficult to 'follow' (okay i have no idea hwo to explain myself) maybe try mising in some darker outlines... ?

edit: can i make suggestions in this kinda format instead of talking about it?

Basically, I'm just going to make the outlines and stuff darker? I can do that but it'll take a little while. And by a "little while" I mean a few days so I can review the CSS and see what I can edit in place of the default color-changy thingies which don't have all the options I want.

ALTHOUGH I MIGHT BE COMPLETELY WRONG ??

(Also I don't know why but I like that background you added to the picture, it focuses the foreground excellently despite all logic telling me otherwise, you should make it tile-sized so I can add it as the background lol)
