Art Contest of Love

Queso this is another part of the Love festival thing I've got going on. Love is kinda a thing I do.

This art contest thing is pretty much a community-voting contest. At the end of the submission phase I'll stop it and acquire votes from people (in a different method than usual; you'll have to PM me or contact me using one of those contacty buttons below) until the voting phase ends. Then I'll get a panel of art experts and judge the artwork with them. Votes from people get one point, votes from judges get three points. All's fair in love, right?

Protip: this contest will take FOREVER. I'm expecting this to end before the Mayan calendar ends but not much sooner than that. Oh and the subject is whatever you want but Pokemon-related art gets bonus points.

I judge on effort, not talent, so you should probably try really hard to make something not-crappy even if it turns out not the way you want. Artwork cannot utilize official art at all, as that would be a breach of copyright and also that's a terrible thing to do. Artwork cannot be copyrighted at all (this includes music), although it can use samples of copyrighted work. It just can't use heavy amounts of samples.

Artwork (in terms of this contest) consists of one of the below:
- Digital art (tablet drawing, pixel art, fractal art, etc)
- Traditional art (painting, canvas, pencil art, I'd better not get any damn sketches)
- Photography (this is hard to judge but that's fine)
- Music (this is kinda a new thing so I'm kinda iffy on its inclusion, but any genre and it doesn't have to be computer-generated, you can rap into a mic and record yourself with static and everything and it'll still count)

Artwork has to follow the official forum rules, which means no sexy loli humanized Pikachu even though I'd probably like it a lot. All registrants get a coupon for a free piece of artwork from me (so expect something crappy) that you can use in my shop if it's still there.

First place in digital art gets a trophy, 1000 Shaycoins and their artwork goes on display in a page I'll make exclusively for the contest. Second place in digital art gets a trophy and 500 Shaycoins. Third place gets a trophy.

First place in traditional art gets a trophy, 1000 Shaycoins, and their artwork goes on display in a page I'll make exclusively for the contest. Second place in traditional art gets a trophy and 500 Shaycoins. Third place gets a trophy.

First place in photography gets a trophy, 750 Shaycoins, and their photo goes on display in a page I'll make exclusively for the contest. Second place in photography gets a trophy and 250 Shaycoins. Third place gets a trophy.

First place in music (hoo boy) gets a trophy, 1250 Shaycoins, their musical piece goes on display in a page I'll make exclusively for the contest, and I'll create a single (complete with album cover) specifically for their piece. Second place in music gets a trophy, 500 Shaycoins, and I'll add your song as the B-side of the single the first-place winner gets. Third place gets a trophy, 250 Shaycoins, and your song will be the first song in the gathered album.

All photography pieces will be organized into a digital scrapbook free to download and released under a CC-BY-SA license. All musical pieces will be organized into a Shaychu album that will be free for everybody (because I don't like paying for music and NEITHER SHOULD YOU) and, since your work isn't copyrighted, I won't pay you, so please don't enter this contest with copyrighted work and expecting to get paid because I can't even afford community college, much less the damn costs of copyright. The album itself will be released under a CC-BY-SA license. AND THEN I'LL PERSONALLY REMIX IT.

You...don't have to join them all. They're in segments for a reason, and that reason is to try to accommodate everyone on the forum. I'm not trying to pressure you to join them all...

@DarkHeart: Sure, considering you're one of the art experts I was considering in the first place. You can help judge after the public vote session. You can't judge your own art, though you can still judge fairly I hope.

@Espe: Wonderful! Even if you just say you're going to enter, though, it doesn't really count as a submission until you submit something. If the art contest submission phase ends before you turn something in (which is far from likely), your art won't be placed into the judging session. (By the way you're one of the intended art experts I had in mind. Again, you can't judge your own art.) You also shouldn't feel forced to enter all of them, that's not how the contest works.

obviously i wouldnt be able to judge my own art ^^; none of it would make it to the second round that way due to my extreme self critisizm. but, i would be more than happy to help judging the rest of it, if needed :3

Well, the way I have it planned out is kinda like the US elections (so yeah it sucks but w/e), where people submit their work, then all of the Shaychu members vote on which one they want, and then the "official" judges judge it. There's not really a point where you don't judge it, except at the very end when I put all the stuff into an organized area.

Well, again, you don't have to, I don't want people to feel pressured into joining them all. If you want to, then sure, go ahead, I'm just trying to make sure people don't just join all of them because they think it's mandatory.

I'm also going to take category suggestions soon. If there's something you want added then just PM me about it. I'm thinking having a crafts category but there's only like two people here that craft.

and i did read all the info but i am slightly confused by so much text. Can i enter with any kind of art? as in.. does it have to be pokemon related or no? (ill probably make it pokemon related anyways but i just wanna know..)
