Computer Threats *Please Read* Empty Computer Threats *Please Read*

Post by Guest Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:15 am

Just 20 minutes ago my computer was going extremely slow. Then it started to freeze and it froze about 5 or 6 times. Then it wouldn't go back. The last time I tried turning it off it wouldn't even turn off! I unplugged it thinking the battery would go and it would shut off but it still wouldnt! AND THEN it finally shut off i turned it back on and came to a dead black screen for about 5 minutes. I tried turning it off again and it wouldnt shut off. I finally got past it and now im back and doing a virus scan. IDK what happened but this is serious, Also during the whole time i heard a LOUD ticking noise in my computer.... help!?!? I'm scared this could be it for my computer...

If its doing the 'wont turn off when you tell it to' and you have to forcefully turn it off via switch in the back (and dont say that switch doesnt turn it off, it will always turn it off since its the kill switch) that means your computer is old. Its not really a virus as much as age causing the computer to malfunction.
Happened to my really old computer too, whom is dead now.

Anyways, get all the data on something else (backup drive, removable book, etc etc) cause your computer has a limited time left in this world. I'd get a new one, they are less then 1K at Best Buy and you can get something cool or w/e. If not, go to your nearest public library and use their computers^^

If you're hearing a strong clicking noise, it may be your hard drive that is faulty. Run more than one virus scan on it, regardless. No one virus scan will find everything. I personally use Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware and Glary Utilities.

Be sure to disable wireless connectivity when you turn it back on to prevent viruses going out to the Internet while you are scanning your computer.

If the clicking continues, I suggest you back up all your important files. It usually means that your hard drive is dying, and when that happens, it's difficult to get any data off of it. A new one costs around $100 if you're willing to invest that much into your computer.

Well then its what I said before. Fan broke and now the Hard Drive is melting, and since it crashed I'm assuming the HD did indeed melt something important so the computer is prolly dead now.
